CHAPTER I
PRELIMINARY
A. Background
We know that language is a human lingual communication tool, both in its oral and written terms. This is a basic function of language that is not associated with social status and values. After being connected with everyday life, in which there are always values and status, language cannot be abandoned. He always follows everyday human life, both as a member of the tribe and as a member of the nation. Because of the condition and importance of that language, it is explicitly labeled by the user in the form of certain positions and functions.
All of that is stated in the form of the relevant government policy. In our country it is called the National Language Politics, namely national policy that contains planning, direction, and provisions that can be used as a basis for solving the overall language problem.
B. Problem Formulation
1. What are the functions of Indonesian in general and specifically?
2. How is the position of Indonesian as a National language?
C. Purpose
1. Know and understand the function of Indonesian.
2. Knowing and understanding the position of Indonesian as a National language.
CHAPTER II
DISCUSSION
A. FUNCTIONS AND POSITIONS OF INDONESIAN AS A NATIONAL LANGUAGE
Don't ever be mistaken for the success of the Indonesian people to have Indonesian as a child who finds marbles in the middle of the road. The presence of Indonesian language follows a long historical journey. (To reassure this statement, please understand once again the History of Indonesian Language Development.) The journey began before colonial entry into the archipelago, with evidence of existing inscriptions, for example found on Bukit Talang Tuwo and Karang Brahi and tombstones in Aceh, until the inspiration of the unity of Indonesian youth on October 28, 1928, the original concept read:
We are Indonesian poetera and poeteri
mengoe spicy satoe blood,
Indonesian homeland.
We are Indonesian poetera and poeteri
mewoe nation of satoe,
Indonesian nation.
We are Indonesian poetera and poeteri
support the persatoean language,
Indonesian.
Of the three points above, the most attention of the observer (read: sociologist) is the third item. That third item is considered something extraordinary. Because in other countries, especially our neighboring countries, trying to make the same thing always experiences a failure accompanied by clashes here and there. By young man
